Ask a Nursing Advisor

Is it true that the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) has created a Code of Conduct and if so when will it be implemented?

Great question. The CRNS in collaboration with other nursing regulatory bodies across Canada formed a working group which created a Code of Conduct adapted from the College of Nurses of Ontario Code of Conduct (2024).

The Code of Conduct went through internal and external reviews and was approved by CRNS Council at their September 2025 meeting. Next steps include:

  • Minister of Health approval.
  • The related bylaw will be published in The Saskatchewan Gazette once approved by the Minister of Health.
  • Code of Conduct will be posted to the CRNS website, and the date of enforcement will be communicated to registrants through an email and social media.
  • Implementation anticipated in early 2026.
  • Once the Code of Conduct is implemented it will replace the current Code of Ethics, 2017.

The CRNS encourages registrants to watch for communication regarding the Code of Conduct.
