Presenter: Dr. Cathy Arnold, Professor and Director, School of Rehabilitation Science, University of Saskatchewan

Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults and account for 77% of all injury hospitalizations in Saskatchewan. Reducing the number of fall-related injuries will reduce emergency department visits and support seniors to age in place in their home communities. Our research team recently completed a province-wide study exploring best practices for fall risk assessment, the lived experience of falls, and the challenges and facilitators for health care providers, older adults and family caregivers. This webinar will summarize the key messages emerging from this study’s findings and provide an opportunity to engage in discussion on ways we can advance a proactive, collaborative approach to fall prevention in Saskatchewan.
