The CRNS Executive Director & Registrar issues a message to communicate operational updates and information for registrants throughout the year. The Executive Director & Registrar’s message is delivered to all CRNS registrants by email.

Dear colleagues,

We are excited to celebrate National Indigenous History Month throughout the month of June. At the CRNS, we recognize that reconciliation requires more than words. It is built on meaningful and sustained action. This month, and all throughout the year, is a time to honor the rich heritage and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada and here at home in Saskatchewan. As RNs and NPs, we are committed to including Indigenous perspectives and ensuring Indigenous voices are honored, respected and integrated into nursing practice across the province.

As we approach National Indigenous Peoples’ Day on June 21, we encourage our registrants to consider how your daily practice can support the journey towards truth and reconciliation. Whether through inclusive care, deepening our understanding of Indigenous heritage and commitments made long ago, as well as integrating Indigenous knowledge, language and teachings into our daily practice. Each one of us holds the responsibility to contribute to change. It is essential to acknowledge the truth of our history, and to recognize its significance in shaping the present and the role we play in advancing reconciliation.

We invite you to watch and reflect on A Commitment to Truth & Reconciliation – a video created in collaboration with partners across Saskatchewan to express a heartfelt apology and a shared commitment to move forward together.

We appreciate walking this path together, grounded in respect, responsibility and enhancing relationships. We are all treaty people.

Sincerely,

Cindy Smith, RN
