Revised Resource: RNs Working in Special-Care Homes

The College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) has revised its RNs Working in Special-Care Homes resource to reflect the changing care environment and the role of RNs in special-care homes (SCH). The resource has also been updated to align with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health’s revised Program Guidelines for Special Care Homes, released in May 2026.

The revised resource includes:

  • An expanded definition of the care provided by RNs working in SCHs.
  • Improved language regarding RN coverage.
  • Clarity for employers regarding staffing requirements in SCHs.
  • Updates to the associated practice standards.
