Updated Resource: Professional Boundaries and the Nurse-Client Relationship 

The updated Professional Boundaries and the Nurse-Client Relationship resource is now available on the CRNS website. 

This resource has been updated on the CRNS five-year review cycle to:  

  • reference the CRNS’s Code of Conduct;
  • further define key components, principles and concepts related to professional boundaries and the therapeutic nurse-client relationship;
  • include warning signs of crossing a boundary, providing nursing care to family members or friends, commencing relationships with a current or former client, gifts, technology usage; and,
  • include an updated decision-making framework for appropriate professional behaviour.

External Consultation: Professional Boundaries and the Nurse-Client Relationship

The CRNS is revising the current Professional Boundary Considerations for Nurse Client Relationships resource. 

As part of the external consultation process, the CRNS is seeking feedback from registrants and external partners. The consultation period is March 19 to April 9. The deadline to provide feedback is April 9, 2026, at 4:00 pm. The online survey can be accessed here.
